For anyone still interested in or tinkering with the idea of the 24 hour race... here's the details....

There is a 24 hour kart race held at Teesside Autodrome on August bank holiday (25th/26th).
Because of the demand, there are no longer hire karts available. There are however, club karts left. The cost of this is £1600 per team, if the balance is paid in full there will be £100 discount, totalling in £1500 for a team. The more drivers we have, the less it will cost per person, equally, you will get less track time... but this is what i call taking one for the team! Eg: 8 people pay just under £200 each... they all get 3 hours of track time each, which works out at two stints each, bearing in mind a tank of fuel lasts 1.5 hours... To me that sounds like a bargain, and with 8 drivers there's plenty of time in between to catch some sleep!
And the important thing in all of this... is that we have a kart and a team, in a huge national event (which some foreigners even travel to race in, so technically it has international status) REPRESENTING CLUBCENTO, keeping us on the map and in the public eye (because out of sight, out of mind) you never know we might even recruit a new member or two?

So get your hands in your pockets you bunch of tight sphincters, and do the club proud out there!!!

For more of the official details... http://www.teessidekarting.co.uk/kartin ... p?mod=24hr

And of course... the standard Clubcento namelist...

If we can get a team together, count me in.

Any help would be appreciated track side, we could always have a fund raiser!
I'll happily wax Pete's nut sack :eek2: in public and charge for viewings so that you can afford to race! Pete won't mind either, he seems to have lost his ability to say no... and i don't even beat him either... :chase:

If you are still looking for a driver, I'm very interested.

I'm a very successful prokart driver and have been a member of the winning hire kart team at this race in the past - so hopefully I can bring a lot of experience to the team.

Please send me a pm if your interested and I will respond straight away.

Thanks.

Unfortunately we won't be entering a team this year, with any luck we'll be back in the game next year.

I managed to get a drive with another team for this event.
We were in a club hire kart and they are well worth having.
They are about as fast again down the straights over the standard hire as the owner drivers are over the club hires, if that makes sense.
It makes for two separate races between the standard and club hires.

I was racing with 'Team Nation'

We qualified 7th in class and were up to 1st at the end of the first stint.

During the night we had a tyre come of the rim and lost a chain which wrecked the sprocket in the process.

So after a promising start I think we finished about 13th in class.

It was another great event with a full grid, international teams and a really good friendly atmosphere.

I hope to be doing it all again next year.
