I have now had my crazy venga bus for 8 months and put 16k miles on it.

As some of you may remember I had to have the throttle body replaced at 1000 miles due to it 'sticking'

Now it is u/s again and requires the lambda sensors replacing. It might be because of contaminated fuel as it happended just after filling up.
The part is on back order and has to come from Germany - 5 days lead time!

Not exactly impressive...

In the meantime I have been given an Astra 2.0 turbo (petrol) 170 bhp, which, I am ashamed to admit, is actually not that bad

The quick Vauxhalls used to come with reports of massive torque steer and poor handling, they got it sorted now?

It is a lively little thing, mild torque steer and slightly unsettled ride.
I can see how the typical rep-mobile driver might find it a bit of a handlful.
The VXR version must be insane!

Like I said - actually not bad, if you like that sort of drive.

I was very impressed by my step dads Vectra VXR it's had a remap up to 300bhp and 400 ftlb's

And is no where near as bad on torque steer as you would imagine 8)

It is 'mildly moist' in Berkshire today, a bootful produces a rather interesting 'tank slapper' torque steer effect

I think the Michelin's are past their best before date...

Nah, that's just the Vauxhall bit

It's funny that people still cling on to the 'unreliable Italian car' feeling when they are more reliable than most nowadays.

Yea absolutely - I do quite enjoy making the Vauxhall suffer though

I seem to remember with the Vectra, that it under steered very very very badly!! Put your foot down turn the wheel, it would just go straight....... In fact, was on top gear repeat the other day - pants chassis!

It's back at the doctors again, been suffering from throttle response issues for months and has been in twice with no resolution.
Back in again and this time they have found another faulty part "swirl sensor" or something.

Not impressed

end of term report on the bus as it is going off to manheim vehicle auctions in the next week

4 years old and 52k miles and boy it feels tired

the gear lever jumps around like a rampant rabbit
nsr wheel bearing droning
brakes pull to one side
various dings and scuffs
it never got better than 27 mpg
parrot has died

will i be sad to see it go?

well it has been useful for transporting wheels and furniture, and on a motorway it does barrell along nicely

but other than that it won't be remembered with pleasure, and i will be £500 a month better off to spend on running my Bravo

bye bye bus :arse:
