Hi, time has come maybe to get rid of our much loved Cinquecento SX. We've had it for what seems like ever, its seen the kids grow up, learnt to drive in it, take it to music festivals, but now they have moved out, the beloved wife really doesn't need it any more so its just taking up space on the drive. Its a proper italian car with more dings, scrapes etc. than anything else on the road, the paint is fading, it needs a service and the brakes sorting, but its still very low mileage for its age, it still has a bit of MOT left, and i have no doubt when we take it to our friendly local garage it will pass again with no real issues as it has done ever since we got it at about 3 years old.

So I assume whilst its got the potential to become a classic its a few years away and given its general beaten up condition (which i love but the wife hates) is not worth a lot to anyone. No doubt a few spare bits worth having perhaps.

The dilemma then is, do we hang on to it and keep it for its retro classicness and use it a bit more, do we try to sell it, or do we simply scrap it.. On the basis very few seem to be left is it wrong to scrap a car, however beaten up, that is road worthy?

All opinions appreciated, assuming of course there is anyone out there who still reads this forum.

DONT SCRAP IT. THEY ARE GREAT LITTLE CARS AND DISAPPEARING FAST FROM THE ROADS HERE IN IRELAND. HOW MANY CHEAP AND CHEERFUL LITTLE CARS CAN YOU THINK OF THAT BRING A SMILE TO PEOPLES FACES WHEN THEY SEE YOU DRIVING BY??? They will never be worth a fortune but thats not the point. They dont make cars like these anymore. even modern fiats are getting as mundane as the stuff the japanese etc now churn out.
