I will be collecting my new (to me) car this weekend. The place I have bought it from have offered, for a fee to do something where they fill the sills and other parts of the car with a resin or wax to prevent corrosion.
I have never heard of this process. Does anybody know what is it called and is it worth it? I can imagine that on a brand new car it may be of benefit but on something that has already seen the road isn't it just going to trap in any ingrained salt and water?
Sorry that my explanation is a bit vague but the offer was sprung upon me and I didn't really hear all the details.

Many thanks
Chris

I imagine it will be Waxoyl or something similar. If you want to do it yourself you could probably do it cheaper. I waxoyled the silver Cinquecento and it still went rotten in the end...

How long are you planning on keeping the car?

Thanks for replying Pete.
I don't plan on keeping the car forever. It's a Bravo T-Jet 150 and I'll probably keep it for 2-3 years. I can't see me getting overly attached to it. By then it will probably have depreciated so much that I doubt it will be worth doing.
Thanks for the info though, I had just never heard of the process before.

I will be interested to hear how you get on with the Bravo, as i'm in the process of finding the right Bravo T-Jet 150 as our new family car.

Picked up the car on Saturday, that was fun crossing the Pennines in the snow.
Positives so far:
    150bhp
SPORT button instead of a CITY button :D
    25k on the clock.
    near immaculate condition.

No quite so positives so far:
No spare wheel, in the process of sorting that.
It has the M32 gearbox so every noise has me panicking about it's imminent failure.
The difficulty of replacing the stereo without loosing all the Blue and Me functionality.

Overall I am very impressed with it, still not as nice to drive as my old 156 but I didn't expect it to be.

Sounds nice, enjoy!

The R32 'box was a problem with big torque in the Alfa diesels, Autolusso recommend putting a bit more oil in - see the Alfaowner forum for info.

...and even the 159 wasn't as good to drive as the 156! Stupidly fast, but big n' heavy - and felt it.
