Has anyone any experience or recommendations for a DIN DAB radio? I really don't an all singing all dancing one. Just a standard HU with a AUX headphone port for my MP3 will suffice.

Thanks

Chris

It's something I looked into briefly. The DAB quality depends on what stations you like and the reception in your area.

A guy from another forum with a Ford factory fit DAB radio hates it as it keeps flipping out and losing signal, another who fitted a roof mounted DAB aerial loves it.

Sorry, this probably doesn't help much

Thought about a Pure Highway? They have inputs for iPods etc. as well.

I was considering an DAB piggyback for the OE headunit in the 500 a while ago......in fact ever since they shifted Radcliffe and Maconie off R2 and onto R6. After some research I have decided to wait until there is enough competition in the market to force manufacturers to up their game as the consensus was most options seem to be rubbish.

Sorry this is not much help with your query Chris, but I'm interested to see what feedback comes as i's about 18months since I was looking into it, so I don't know if there have been many new developments in the market.

Well after much hunting around on the internet yesterday I've decided to get THIS headunit. I've had a JVC since I bought the car 8years ago and it's never faulted. Argos outlet are selling them via eBay for £80 at the moment. That's around £40 less than I've seen them elsewhere. Every review I've read seems to give a very positive opinion. I'll report back when I've had a chance to test it.

It arrived today. However I'm not allowed to fit it as it's my birthday present :(
It'll be after next weekend before I install it, but with a bit/lot of luck it may be gracing the interior of the Seicento. It depends on what Mr. MOT says on Saturday morning.

So I have had this fitted for a couple of months now. Have to say I am mighty impressed. It hasn't lost signal or even blipped once, even driving up to Grassmere in the lakes it held DAB signal all the way.
Only difficulty is fitting the aerial. It's not too challenging but it did require some dismantling of the Punto's A-pillar. It needs to be on a front or rear windscreen and be close enough to the edge so that it can touch some metal (even if it's painted) part of the bodywork.

The rest of the car stereo stuff it does fine, well it's good enough for me. ICE has never been of great interest to me, Radio4 or WITTERTAINMENT doesn't need a high quality sound system.

Good to hear, tempted to try this if I ever get the Alfa back.
